“Do No Significant Harm” – DNSH: EQA’s commitment to responsible innovation

The Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) principle plays a central role in the EU Taxonomy for sustainable activities. Its aim is to ensure that any economic activity does not cause serious harm to the environment or society.

Compliance with this principle is essential for securing EU funding and plays a key role in the European Union’s broader strategy to tackle climate change and drive sustainability-focused innovation.

EQA is the first entity in Spain accredited by ENAC (the Spanish National Accreditation Body) for the validation and verification of compliance with the DNSH principle.

EQA has conducted over 1,400 DNSH assessments, supporting public and private entities in ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

6 environmental objectives of DNSH: climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, sustainable use of water and marine resources, transition to a circular economy, pollution prevention and control, and protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.

“Member States need to provide a DNSH assessment for each and every measure of their RRP. According to the RRF Regulation, no measure included in a RRP should entail significant harm to environmental objectives, and the Commission cannot assess positively the RRP if one or more measures do not comply with DNSH.”
